01Haiwan National Forest Park waterways
Give the second swim lap a fair chance
Two laps in the Haiwan waterways can make the swim feel deceptively neat. Don't use the second lap to correct an ordinary first one. Find a good line, repeat the effort and get to the bike with your breathing steady.
Settle by 300 m. Carry the same rhythm into loop 2.
02Hangzhou Bay coast, early bike laps
Set an effort you can recognise later
The flat Hangzhou Bay coastline gives you no terrain excuse to vary effort lap to lap. Set your planned power or effort on lap 1 and treat it as the standard for the rest.
Check effort before average speed. Start fuelling early.
03Hangzhou Bay, later coastal laps
Keep the fuelling steady when speed moves
By the later coast-side laps, you will know every turn and may mistake familiarity for spare energy. Keep the power you chose on lap one and make the repeated route work for you, not against you.
Compare each lap's effort to lap 1. Finish your nutrition before T2.
04Haiwan forest trails, opening run laps
Take your time becoming a runner
The shaded forest trails give consistent footing and consistent feedback. Use the first two laps to find a sustainable pace, not to test a fast one.
Shorten your stride out of T2. Take every aid station on every lap.
05Haiwan forest trails, closing run laps
Wait for lap three before raising the stakes
Run the opening forest laps by breathing and form. When you know how the legs are handling the surface, decide whether the final circuits deserve more pace.
Compare the back half to the front honestly. Keep the finish decision yours.
