IRONMAN Copenhagen.
Race Copenhagen on your terms.

Copenhagen begins with Amager's seaside water and asks you to leave the city for 180 kilometres in North Zealand. You'll come back to a marathon through streets that everyone knows. It is a race made memorable by the finish, not by how quickly you start.

What could you race?

I’m Tom, the coach behind Sense Endurance Coaching. Tell me where you are now and I’ll show you what a strong day in Copenhagen could look like.

Let’s build your race

Let’s build your race.

Your age and race category help me estimate where that performance could place you. They don’t determine how fast I think you can race.

Change units

The Palace Square finish starts with a patient ride north.

Amager's sheltered water starts a day that heads into North Zealand before coming back to Copenhagen's harbour and royal streets. On the marathon, the landmarks will do their best to lift you. Make sure the bike lets them. The exact 2027 loops and aid points still need the current map.

Amager Beach Park, full swim opening

Establish rhythm before leaving the sheltered start

The one-loop swim is a chance to establish rhythm without spending matches before the bike.

Seed honestly. Settle by 400 m.

Amager sea swim, later approach

Leave water with an entire day ahead

The first loop feels quick, especially with a tailwind. Hold target power and bank no unnecessary effort.

Cap power. Fuel before exposed sections.

North Zealand cycling, first long section

Set a sustainable number before the countryside opens

Use the second loop to confirm that the first was paced for the marathon, not for a bike split screenshot.

Ignore speed swings. Finish nutrition before T2.

North Zealand cycling, later section

Keep eating before any flat-looking return

The four-loop run offers immediate crowd energy. Keep the opening loop controlled regardless of the landmarks.

Shorten stride. Take aid early.

Copenhagen harbour, opening marathon

Let your legs become runners along the water

Repeated landmarks make a steady effort easier to judge than a single long out-and-back.

Check posture. Stay on nutrition.

Nyhavn and Amalienborg city corridors

Hold the same effort through the crowds

If the bike was correctly paced, loop three is where patient execution becomes an advantage.

Keep cadence. Choose effort over split.

Christiansborg Palace Square, finishing approach

Use the final move only when it can be sustained

Make the final move only after the previous loops have held together.

Decide late. Enjoy the finish.

What to check in race week

Check the August 2027 Amager swim and transitions, North Zealand full bike, harbour marathon and Christiansborg finish. Confirm the actual roads and aid rather than treating every city landmark as a split point. Plan transport between the seaside start and city finish in advance.

Build the legs.
Practise the decisions.

A finish range gives you something to work towards. The preparation is specific to this race: full-distance sea composure and controlled country-road cycling bring the athlete to Copenhagen harbour ready for a patient marathon.

I’m Tom. With Sense Endurance Coaching, I’ll build that preparation around your life, follow how you respond and adjust the work as you get closer to Copenhagen.
