Palm Cove, prior swim venue
Settle the sea swim before heading out of the cove
The calm, shore-hugging swim rewards an honest, controlled opening.
Seed honestly. Settle into rhythm.
Your day in Cairns
I’m Tom, the coach behind Sense Endurance Coaching. Tell me where you are now and I’ll show you what a strong day in Cairns could look like.
The course behind your race
Earlier Cairns courses began at Palm Cove, followed the Captain Cook Highway beside the sea towards Port Douglas and finished with running on the city's waterfront. A gorgeous road can still cost you if you try to hold one speed through every wind change. The 2027 turns and transfers need the current event map.
Palm Cove, prior swim venue
The calm, shore-hugging swim rewards an honest, controlled opening.
Seed honestly. Settle into rhythm.
Captain Cook Highway, coastward bike
The route up to Rex Lookout offers breathtaking views but real climbing. Pace it by effort rather than pushing for the view.
Cap opening effort. Fuel early.
Captain Cook Highway, cityward return
Finish planned nutrition on the return leg before the two-loop esplanade run.
Stay patient. Finish planned nutrition.
Cairns waterfront, first run stage
Let the first esplanade loop feel easy, not fast.
Easy first aid station. Check posture.
Cairns boardwalk, closing run stage
Only progress once the first loop has held together.
Stay tall. Choose the last move late.
Confirm the 2027 Palm Cove swim entry, coast-road cycling, both transitions and Cairns waterfront run. The earlier course required travel between swim venue and city finish; organise transfers only once the new event guide establishes them. Check coastal wind, sea conditions and aid.

Prepare for Cairns
A finish range gives you something to work towards. The preparation is specific to this race: a composed sea start, wind-aware coastal riding and controlled first city kilometres fit together with the correct start-to-finish logistics.
I’m Tom. With Sense Endurance Coaching, I’ll build that preparation around your life, follow how you respond and adjust the work as you get closer to Cairns.
