01Al Mamzar sea venue, provisional swim
Keep the first swim circuit economical
Water in the high 20s means no wetsuit buoyancy to lean on. Swim your own stroke rate rather than chasing feet that are moving differently through the water than you remember.
Settle into rhythm early. Sight rather than chase.
02Al Mamzar sea venue, later swim section
Check actual second-loop and exit arrangement
The outward ride through Al Hamriya Port and Dubai Islands lets you find your rhythm before the Infinity Bridge. There is little to gain from forcing a flat-road power target onto the rise.
Cap opening watts. Fuel on schedule before the bridge.
03Dubai urban bike, first two 20 km circuits if retained
Set sustainable power on the actual departure roads
The Infinity Bridge and the coastal return past Port Rashid bring the more variable effort into the second half of the bike. Let effort, not a fixed wattage, decide the climb.
Hold effort over the bridge. Finish nutrition before T2.
04Dubai urban bike, later circuits if retained
Avoid repeated hard accelerations before T2
A flat run gives no natural brake. Starting a shade too easy matters more here than on a course with real terrain to slow you down.
Hold opening pace for 2 km. Take fluid at every station.
05Dubai run, 18 km course awaiting new map
Start gently and confirm the course's 500 m and 4 km segments
The new corniche footpath closes out a flat run in what is usually the warmest part of the morning. Spend what a sane bike left, and use the shade where the route gives it.
Use aid stations to cool, not just drink. Decide the finish honestly.
