IRONMAN 70.3 Da Nang.
Race Da Nang on your terms.

Da Nang gives you the sea, coastal roads and a city that comes alive around a triathlon. The bike can tempt you into riding as though the run will look after itself. Keep your own effort measured, whatever the longer race on the same weekend is doing.

What could you race?

I’m Tom, the coach behind Sense Endurance Coaching. Tell me where you are now and I’ll show you what a strong day in Da Nang could look like.

Let’s build your race

Let’s build your race.

Your age and race category help me estimate where that performance could place you. They don’t determine how fast I think you can race.

Change units

The coast gives the setting. You decide the effort.

Earlier Da Nang half-distance races used a sea start near East Sea Park and roads crossing the city's bridge corridors. The 2027 edition shares a weekend with a new full-distance event, but its exact half course remains separate and unconfirmed. Prepare for coastal heat, turns and a half marathon you want to run well.

Da Nang coastal swim, final start to be confirmed

Keep your first minutes quiet

The rolling start gives you room to settle into rhythm before committing to pace.

Seed honestly. Settle into rhythm.

Da Nang coastal roads, opening bike stage

Choose effort before you reach a rise

The Man Quang and Thuan Phuoc Bridges are real climbs. Pace them by effort rather than pushing for speed.

Cap opening effort. Fuel early.

Da Nang 70.3 bike return, route pending

Keep the run in mind as you ride home

Finish planned nutrition on the return leg before the two-loop coastal run.

Stay patient. Finish planned nutrition.

Da Nang half marathon, opening kilometres

Run into your rhythm, not into the clock

Let the first coastal loop feel easy, not fast.

Easy first aid station. Check posture.

Da Nang half marathon, closing kilometres

Raise the effort only if form and cooling hold

Only progress once the first loop has held together.

Stay tall. Choose the last move late.

What to check in race week

Use the 2027 half-distance course, not the new full IRONMAN route or an older Da Nang map. Confirm the sea entry and buoys, bridge and coast-road turns, transitions, separate start waves, aid and run laps. Plan cooling for race-day conditions rather than assumed weather.

Make your finish prediction and I can send this plan to you in race week.

Build the legs.
Practise the decisions.

A finish range gives you something to work towards. The preparation is specific to this race: steady effort in open water and on urban coastal roads, followed by a half marathon started conservatively, become familiar enough to withstand a changed race route.

I’m Tom. With Sense Endurance Coaching, I’ll build that preparation around your life, follow how you respond and adjust the work as you get closer to Da Nang.
