Challenge Barcelona.
Race Barcelona on your terms.

A sea swim at Mar Bella, repeated racing along the N-II and a run beside the Mediterranean. Barcelona offers plenty of chances to chase the athletes ahead. The trick is knowing when to let them go.

What could you race?

I’m Tom, the coach behind Sense Endurance Coaching. Tell me where you are now and I’ll show you what a strong day in Barcelona could look like.

Let’s build your race

Let’s build your race.

Your age and race category help me estimate where that performance could place you. They don’t determine how fast I think you can race.

Change units

Three visits to the N-II should not become three time trials.

In the 2026 layout, you swim once off Mar Bella, head towards Montgat for three coastal bike circuits and then run four loops along the seafront. Nobody can hide behind a wheel here. Make your own effort the one you can still afford at the end.

Mar Bella, breakwater sea start

Keep breathing steady on the single swim circuit

Breakwater protection keeps this swim genuinely calm. Settle into a repeatable rhythm early and use the Olympic Port and Parc del Fòrum as sighting landmarks.

Settle by 300 m. Sight off the port, not the swimmer ahead.

Montgat link, first bike stage

Set your effort before the coastal repeats

The course moves from the Olympic Port out along the coast towards Mataró. Use the early kilometres to settle position and start fuelling.

Start drinking before the open coast road. Check effort before average speed.

N-II towards Vilassar de Mar, early repeats

Maintain legal gaps and sustainable power

Nothing on this stretch will slow you down, which is exactly why it's easy to overspend. Ride the same effort you planned, regardless of how easy the speed feels.

Ride the plan by power or perceived effort. Do not bank a fast-feeling split.

N-II return and Barcelona approach

Keep eating and finish the ride with running legs

The route back through the heart of Barcelona, past the Sagrada Família, is genuinely spectacular and genuinely distracting. Finish your nutrition and prepare for the run rather than racing the scenery.

Finish the bottle you planned. Let cadence rise before T2.

Barcelona seafront, opening run circuits

Let the first promenade lap feel manageable

The seafront promenade puts you in front of large, vocal crowds from the first kilometre. Use the opening lap to convert bike legs into running legs, not to bank on the noise.

Shorten your stride out of T2. Take the early aid stations deliberately.

Barcelona seafront, final run lap

Make the last circuit an earned increase

Use the first half as honest evidence of how the day is going. If it's gone well, decide deliberately whether to push; if it hasn't, protect the finish.

Compare the second half to the first honestly. Keep the finish decision yours, not the crowd's.

What to check in race week

Check the final bike distance before choosing a split target: the 2026 local race information gives 88 km, while the wider series listing gives 90 km. Confirm the actual course file, swim buoys, coastal turning points, run aid and non-drafting rules. Use the distance stated beside your predictor rather than guessing.

Build the legs.
Practise the decisions.

A finish range gives you something to work towards. The preparation is specific to this race: repeatable coastal power, legal non-drafting gaps and an unhurried first seaside run circuit are rehearsed together.

I’m Tom. With Sense Endurance Coaching, I’ll build that preparation around your life, follow how you respond and adjust the work as you get closer to Barcelona.
