Sunset over the water at Sir Bani Yas Island.
Race Finder

Challenge Sir Bani Yas.
Race Sir Bani Yas on your terms.

Sir Bani Yas gives you a sea swim, a long ride around an island and a marathon close to the coast. The ring road can look deceptively kind, but the inland sections will ask for more than steady speed. First choose the right distance scenario: the full bike is not yet consistently listed.

Let’s build your race

Let’s build your race.

Your age and race category help me estimate where that performance could place you. They don’t determine how fast I think you can race.

Change units

The ring road is only part of the day.

On the earlier island outline, athletes swim off the southeast coast before circling the perimeter and climbing through interior connectors. The marathon brings you back towards the sea. The full bike length is still disputed between 172 and 180 km, so keep the effort plan useful while the final 2027 map is settled.

Sir Bani Yas southeast sea start

Swim the full distance without forcing the opening

A single loop protected from swells off the island's southeast coast gives a controlled opening. Settle into rhythm early; there's little here to slow you down.

Settle by 300 m. Breathe on a fixed pattern.

Arabian Gulf full swim, later stage

Leave water ready to ride for hours

The island's ring road is flat, smooth and fast, and it's tempting to treat every kilometre that way. Ride to your planned number, because the interconnecting roads ahead will ask for real climbing.

Start drinking early in the heat. Check power, not just speed.

Island perimeter road, early bike

Set sustainable power while the road is smooth

The course's genuine elevation gain comes from roads connecting the ring road, reaching up to 100 m above sea level. Hold your effort ceiling here rather than reacting to how easy the flat sections felt.

Hold target watts on the climbs. Fuel through the exposed, hot sections.

Sir Bani Yas interior hill connectors

Let speed fall without paying extra watts

As the ring road closes the loop, shift focus to the run: a flat, multi-loop course in daytime Gulf heat. Finish planned nutrition and hydration before you're on your feet.

Finish the planned bottle. Front-load hydration before T2.

Island ring, later bike stage

Keep fuelling across the entire 180 km

The run's flat, multi-loop course through the race village puts fans and hydration stations within steps, which makes it easy to ignore how hot it already is. Control the effort from the first loop.

Use every aid station. Check effort against heat, not just pace.

Coastal race village, opening marathon

Begin slowly enough for the full 42.2 km

Daytime temperatures climb through the middle of the run. Hold your planned pace and lean on the crowd for lift, not for pace.

Reassess pace every loop. Keep fuelling and hydrating on schedule.

Race-village coast, late marathon loops

Use the repeated course to check form and intake

The closing loops bring you back through the race village to the finish. If you managed the heat well, this is where you find out. If you didn't, protect the finish rather than forcing one.

Decide the finish honestly. Use the crowd for the final loop.

What to check in race week

Confirm whether the 2027 full bike is 172 or 180 km before setting split targets. Check the final sea course, ring road, interior climbs and coastal marathon loops, along with transfers and aid. The 1,228 m climbing figure covers the full ride, not each circuit.

Build the legs.
Practise the decisions.

A finish range gives you something to work towards. The preparation is specific to this race: steady power on a long island perimeter ride and an honest cap through interior hills are rehearsed so the repeated coastal marathon can start calmly.
