IRONMAN 70.3 Doha.
Race Doha on your terms.

An Old Doha Port swim gives this first-edition race a brilliant setting. The hard part is making sure an exciting opening doesn't turn into an expensive bike split. Keep some ambition for the last kilometres of the city run.

Doha, the city skyline and waterfront.

What could you race?

I’m Tom, the coach behind Sense Endurance Coaching. Tell me where you are now and I’ll show you what a strong day in Doha could look like.

Let’s build your race

Let’s build your race.

Your age and race category help me estimate where that performance could place you. They don’t determine how fast I think you can race.

Change units

The harbour is the opening, not the whole race.

The March 2027 event starts in sheltered water at Old Doha Port. After that, the 90 km bike and 21.1 km run are planned for the city, but their final turns are still being drawn. Prepare for the duration and conditions rather than a road profile that has not been released.

Old Doha Port, harbour swim

Find a quiet rhythm before the road begins

The sheltered port swim rewards an honest, controlled opening.

Seed honestly. Settle into rhythm.

Doha city bike, opening stage pending

Use power to prevent an eager first half

With no hills to force pacing discipline, it's easy to override on this fast, open Gulf road. Hold your number regardless of how easy it feels.

Cap opening effort. Fuel early.

Doha city bike, middle stage pending

Keep fuelling when broad roads feel easy

Finish planned nutrition and hold effort through the remaining flat, exposed miles before the three-loop run in Gulf heat.

Stay patient. Finish planned nutrition.

Doha bike return, mapped turns pending

Do not buy a bike split with your running legs

Let the first Mina District loop feel easy, not fast, and manage the heat from the start.

Easy first aid station. Check posture.

Doha landmark run, opening section pending

Make the first kilometres comfortable

Repeat the first loop's effort rather than letting it drift in the heat.

Stay tall. Keep fuelling.

Doha half marathon, finishing section pending

Let form, not landmarks, decide the late effort

Only progress on the final loop once the first two have held together.

Choose the last move late.

What to check in race week

Check the final Old Doha Port buoys, transition access, road closures, bike laps, city run and aid. This inaugural race has a confirmed venue and distance but not a detailed mapped bike or run; don't build pacing landmarks out of unannounced turns.

Make your finish prediction and I can send this plan to you in race week.

Build the legs.
Practise the decisions.

A finish range gives you something to work towards. The preparation is specific to this race: a calm harbour opening and controlled riding through a new city course are rehearsed even before every road name is available.

I’m Tom. With Sense Endurance Coaching, I’ll build that preparation around your life, follow how you respond and adjust the work as you get closer to Doha.
